About the FIFA Women’s World Cup
The FIFA Women’s World Cup—originally called the FIFA Women’s World Championship—is an international women’s soccer tournament which has been held every four years since 1991, when the inaugural competition was held in China. The competition has a three-year qualifying phase, with countries from 6 confederations vying for 23 slots. The 24th slot filled by the host country.
The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place from 7 June to 7 July in 2019 and will be hosted by France for the first time. Matches will be held in 9 cities across France.
