The inhabitants of Louviec in Brittany are as original as they are extraordinary. They even include a descendant of Châteaubriand. But a murder has taken place and a serial killer is on the loose. Inspector Adamsberg, his team and their unusual methods come to the help of the local police.

Adamsberg and Mathieu are sure: a serial killer is on the loose. They need to identify his motive to catch him before he can do any more harm. The key to the enigma is closely linked to regional folklore. Lying on a dolmen, Adamsberg uses his imagination to find the solution.
