In 2023, a company signs a contract to exploit land considered ancestral by local communities in Kisangani in the remote province of Tshopo in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Exploitation led to conflict between Mboles and Lengolas, resulting in over 700 deaths and tens of thousands of displaced people.

Le Havre, France's leading container port, is the main entry point for cocaine into France. Fourteen tonnes were seized in 2024. To get the drugs out, criminal organisations rely on accomplices, often dockworkers. Unpublished testimony from the family of one of them, Allan Affagard, who was murdered in 2020.
