The Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, is a strategic maritime zone bordered by Russia, Japan and the two Koreas. Far more than a simple passageway it has become the playground for today's rivalry between the major global and regional powers: the Pyongyang-Moscow-Beijing axis and the Tokyo-Seoul-USA axis.
