Tomek is working in his grandfather's shop where you "can find absolutely everything" when, one day, a young girl asks for the only thing he doesn't have in stock: a drop from the Qjar River.

Deep in the Forest of Forgetfulness, Tomek and Hannah have, by the skin of their teeth, managed to escape the monstrous bears that prowl the area. But the young girl realises that she's dropped her jar, home to her bird Passerine, in the middle of the monsters' lair.

The scent of winter

Tomek and his friends, plunged into a deep supernatural sleep, are taken in by the Perfumers. Settled in the village's sleepery, the little people with a fine nose relay one another to read books to them until they find the "words which awaken'.
