Inaugurated in 1986 by François Mitterrand, the Musée d'Orsay, the museum that links the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou, shelters the world's largest collection of impressionist art. Project by project, the museum changed, modernised, welcomed yet more visitors, but never lost its historical character. Each alteration a challenge successfully met.
