2005. The discovery of an archaeological site at the confluence of the Cap Rouge and Saint Lawrence Rivers dramatically changed our knowledge of the French presence in Quebec. The results left no room for doubt: it was the Breton explorer Jacques Cartier who, in 1541, founded this first colony.
