Avalanches, what have we learnt?

10 February 1970. An avalanche killed thirty-nine people having breakfast in the dining room at the UCPA, Val d'Isère, Savoie. A terrible tragedy that led to the natural disaster prevention policy that we know today. But, fifty years on, have we really learned all the lessons of this major catastrophe?

Mont Blanc, greatness beyond measure

In September 2001, technical progress caused a furore in the media: Mont Blanc is not 4807 metres but 4810 metres in height. Since then its exact measurement is taken every two years, with ever greater certainty concerning its precision. All aboard for a unique adventure.
