Long forgotten in French art's Hall of Fame though still popular abroad, Pissarro is today receiving the attention he deserves. Less well-known than his contemporaries, Cézanne, Monet, Renoir or Sisley, he is nevertheless the patriarch of the Impressionist movement, in which he played an essential role as a catalyst.
