A more raucous and exaggerated sort of film than the ones normally screened at Cannes, this is a Crime dramedy farce with an original screenplay and twists and turns the whole way through.
Synopsis
Yvonne discovers that her deceased husband, Captain Santi, far from being the brave upright policeman she thought, was the worst sort of bent copper. Determined to repair the wrongs committed by her son's father, she crosses the path of Antoine, unjustly locked up by Santi for eight long years...
If we know Franco-cinephiles, we bet you’ll jump at the chance of catching the magic of Audrey Tautou (of Amelie fame) on screen. From the same director that brought us White Lies, and Priceless. A bit more action packed than the other films, En liberté (The Trouble with You) was a Directors’ Fortnight selection at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. It stars Lumières and César award-winning Adèle Haenel, a leading lady of one of the most acclaimed films of 2019, Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire, also appearing in Beats Per Minute and Love at First Sight. Hollywood Reporter notes that “audiences familiar with Haenel’s intense presence in films like the Dardenne brothers’ The Unknown Girl or Robin Campillo’s BPM (Beats Per Minute) will be surprised to see the grace and buoyancy she brings to a character with delightful shades of the classic screwball heroine.”
