Dandin

George Dandin, wealthy farmer, marries Angélique de Sotenville, daughter of aristocratic parents who marry her to a commoner to pay off their debts. But no-one had asked her consent and she obtains her revenge by scorning his advances and publicly humiliating him with the very seductive Clitandre.
