Nicolas le Floch is commissioned by Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette to investigate crimes happening in the palaces and slums of Paris. This show could easily become your next binge-worthy thriller. 19-2

Compared to Lupin, 19-2 is more like your typical crime TV series. Well, first because it is one of the greatest French-Canadian TV show of all time, accumulating 37 nominations at the Canadian Screen Awards and one nomination at the International Emmy Awards. But also because the TV series centered on the Montréal Police Service's Station 19 puts people over procedural with its antihero characters. It’s definitely more sombre than Lupin but it features as well good acting and fast-paced narratives. Stream French thriller 19-2 on TV5MONDEplus.

Capitaine Marleau

For the past three years, Capitain Marleauis simply the most-watched prime-time TV show in France. The story follows an eccentric detective with an eye for details, played by the French actress Corinne Masiero, reminiscent of Benedict Cumberbatch in the British TV series Sherlock. And just like in Lupin, you’ll watch it as much for the storylines as for the wonderful sceneries and landscapes of rural France.

Spiral

Set in Paris like Lupin, Spiral (Engrenages) is a much more grim TV show than the one with Omar Sy. It remains one of France’s most exported show and often considered la crème de la crème of French crime TV series. It is dark, unsettling, and definitely as binge-worthy as Netflix’s Lupin!

Now you know what to watch while you patiently wait for season 3 of Lupin, coming out in 2022 on Netflix! In the meantime, watch the full episode of Rendez-Vous d’Amérique with an exclusive interview with Omar Sy who talks about his new TV Show Lupin, inspired by the Maurice Leblanc’s literary saga.
