My dear francophiles, francovorous and francophageous friends, it’s done. I had my second shot. I’m immune. Even if I feel a little weird, they say it’s normal, I don’t care, the nightmare is almost over.

I feel, like we all feel in the U.S. today, that the light at the end of the tunnel we were all hanging on to for the last 12 months has become a spotlight. Finally, we’re almost there. Not totally, we still have to be careful, but almost…
We’re almost done with this darned COVID. That means things can go back to a certain kind of normal. Already, kids are going back to school, already we see people eating at restaurants, enjoying a drink in a bar or going to the movies. Business is back too, to a certain extent.
We’ll not forget those we lost during this terrible year, we will not forget the courage and dedication of health workers and first responders, we will do what we can for these who lost everything… Let’s hope we’ll come out better from this crisis.
On my very small and humble level, the almost end of these dire times means that I won’t have to scratch my head too much to find stories to put in Rendez-Vous D’Amérique every two weeks.
Movies in French will be released again in US theaters. French-speaking singers, French-speaking musicians and French-speaking bands will play again on stages in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and all over the USA. French-speaking artists will finally travel again to the USA. French-speaking culture will be shared again with American audiences.
And we’ll tell you when and where, we’ll speak in-depth with the artists, we’ll share their work with you, and we’ll give you a glimpse of what you’ll finally be able to see for yourself. For the last year, we had to find a way to keep French-speaking culture alive in the USA, even when nothing was happening. It was an interesting experience and I hope we made it interesting for you too.
But now, it’s time to get back to the real deal. We’ll finally be able to fulfill our mission again. We’ll be able to talk about works of art you will be able to enjoy in cinemas, museums, theaters, restaurants, etc… Everything that makes life a little, and sometimes a lot, better.
Because, it’s almost official, life is back !
