Mobile étoile - Watch This French Drama

Mobile étoile, or “Night Song” in English, is a French Canadian drama about two classical musicians who are struggling to save their sacred-song vocal group and their livelihood.

Synopsis

Hannah Hermann is a French soprano married to concert pianist Daniel Dussault. Their son is a talented violinist. Together, the couple runs the choir Les Cantiques, a vocal group that performs Jewish liturgical music from the 19th and 20th centuries. A lack of funds challenges the choir’s ability to survive, as grants are rejected and the vocal group has to search for a new location to rehearse. To make matters worse, an untimely visit from Hannah’s old vocal teacher Samuel brings conflict into the mix when talented young singer Abigail disagrees with him over how a piece he has brought with him should be performed.

Mobile étoile was the recipient of the Tobias Spencer Award at the Haifa International Film Festival.
